Dear Dos Palos-Oro Loma Schools Community:
I am so excited to begin my work as your new Superintendent! In the short time since my appointment, I have had the opportunity to meet a number of people, and have been so warmly welcomed by many in this wonderful community. Dos Palos is clearly a special place with rich traditions, immense pride, people who care and are invested in the future of its children. I am so happy to be here, and humbled by the Board’s decision to select me as your new Superintendent.
I’ve been a teacher and principal in a small rural community, have raised my own children in that environment, and truly appreciate the environment where they are known, cared for, and supported. Dos Palos is just such an environment, and you can see it in our schools, our classrooms, and on the faces of our kids. As I’ve been meeting people, I’ve been so impressed with the level of commitment that I’ve seen, and the fact that so many of our school staff have grown up and gone to school here, and have returned to work here and give back to their schools.
Like many school districts in California right now, our district faces challenges, but it’s not only a time of challenges; it is also a time of great opportunity and promise. Advanced methods of teaching and learning, new standards, and instructional technology provide opportunities to fully prepare students for the new world they will face. I know, with our collective effort and support that our kids will thrive!
Thanks again for your welcome. I look forward to working with you in the years to come!
