Board Priorities and Objectives for

School Year 2012-2013 

 

 

1.0   SAFE COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

1.1   Measure and identify the amount of bullying

1.2   Measure the effectiveness of the drug and alcohol intervention

1.3   Provide necessary trainings to include gang interventions, mandated reporting, safety and bullying

1.4   Explore reinstatement of Safe School Ambassador Program

1.5   Continue to track police activity at schools

 

2.0   IMPROVE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE FOR ALL STUDENTS

2.1   With particular attention to English, reading and mathematics, meet the specific numerical targets for each assessment tool and increase student performance on the following assessments:

2.1.1         AYP: % proficient and advanced

2.1.2         CAHSEE

2.1.3         CELDT

2.1.4         A-G Requirements

2.1.5         Physical Fitness

2.2   Develop a timeline on training and implementation of Common Core

2.3   Conduct a survey to identify the instructional needs

2.4   Develop a plan to ensure that staff has necessary information on English Language Learners

 

3.0   EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE USE OF DISTRICT RESOURCES

3.1   Maintain fiscal solvency by monitoring cash flow monthly

3.2   Maintain internal control per the Merced County Office of Education recommendation; budget hard check

3.3   Attract, retain and compensate all employees competitively when fiscally prudent

3.4   Track the use of instructional technology with particular attention to the use of IT in the instructional program. Anticipate long-term replacement, additions and repair needs

3.5   Identify some grants that would be beneficial to the district

3.6   Develop a five-year replacement plan for Maintenance Operations

 

4.0   SUPPORT CAREER TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION THROUGH ACADEMIC AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING

4.1   Monitor and report any developments with reconstruction

4.2   Monitor and report on Career Technical Education; annual report of graduate follow-up

 

5.0   COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS

5.1   District calendar available to the newspaper
