Educational Leader with Ties to Merced County
 Selected to Lead District

DOS PALOS, CA – Today, the Board of Trustees of the Dos Palos-Oro Loma Joint Unified School District announced that after a State-wide search process, they have selected Andrew Schwab as the District’s next Superintendent. The Board is expected to approve his contract at the upcoming December 20 Board meeting.

“We selected Mr. Schwab because he will bring his extensive experience in educational leadership and a collaborative approach to working with the Board, community members, District leadership teams, staff, and students” said Board of Trustees President Maria Davis.

Mr. Schwab has more than 10 years of experience in Cabinet-level positions in K-12 school districts. He is currently serving as Superintendent of Santa Ynez Valley Union High School District in Santa Barbara County.  He is expected to begin his employment with the District on March 25, 2024, or sooner if he is able to transition from his current position prior to that date.

Mr. Schwab has ties to Merced County having held the positions of teacher and Information Technology Director at Le Grand Union High School District in 2008-2011.

In addition to his career as an educational leader, Mr. Schwab has extensive experience in information technology in both the public and private business settings.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Humboldt State University and a Master’s degree in Information Technology from American InterContinental University.  Mr. Schwab expects to complete his Doctorate degree in Organizational Change and Leadership with the University of Southern California in December 2023.

Dear Dos Palos – Oro Loma Joint Unified School District Community,

I am excited to introduce myself as your next Superintendent. I bring over 20 years’ experience in education serving diverse learners across both the elementary and secondary levels. After serving in the US Army and attending Humboldt State University on the GI Bill, I began my career in education with the Le Grand Union High School District in the Central Valley, first as a classified computer support technician, and later as an ROP/CTE Teacher and IT Director. I then spent nearly 9 years as a district administrator at the elementary level, most recently as the Associate Superintendent of Learning and Innovation for Union Elementary School District in San Jose. I returned to my high school roots when I joined the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School District in my current position as Superintendent.

When it comes to education, I believe that every student has the capacity for wonder, creativity and critical thinking and deserves the opportunity to excel to their highest potential. I know that it takes a village to raise a child which is why I also believe in working collaboratively together with parents, community, staff and students to ensure individual student success. My leadership philosophy is based on communication, transparency and building trust. It is my goal to inspire lifelong learners and empower leaders to do great things for kids. Together, we can make a difference.

I would like to thank the Board of Trustees for the privilege to serve the students and families of the Dos Palos - Oro Loma Joint Unified School District. I look forward to a long and productive collaboration together in service to each and every one of our students. I am humbled by the opportunity to be working with the wonderful staff, administrators and teachers in the district and look forward to getting to know everyone in the months ahead. I can't wait to listen and learn from you as we begin our work together.

Andrew Schwab
