DPHS CLASSES RESUME MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

Superintendent's Message

DPHS CLASSES RESUME MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

WHAT HAPPENED ON WEDNESDAY AT DPHS AND THE FIRE?

At approximately 6:00 am Wednesday, DPOL personnel reported a fire in an air conditioning unit on top of room 300. The Fire Department was dispatched immediately, responded, and began working to put it out. In collaboration with City Officials and Dos Palos Police Department, the surrounding streets were blocked off to ensure the safety of students, district staff, fire personnel, and the campus. At approximately 9:00 am, the fire was contained. The fire has affected the entire 300 wing and, at this time, is uninhabitable.

WHY DID WE CANCEL CLASS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK

The response to the fire necessitated several steps to ensure the school site was prepared for a safe return of students and staff. The District has been working with inspectors during the closure to ensure a return on Monday is possible.

WHAT SHOULD STUDENTS EXPECT TO RETURN ON MONDAY?

All students will report to the DPHS Gym at the start of school. Students will be welcomed back by both the site and District administration. Students will receive their updated schedule with new classroom locations. The administration will also review safety procedures and restricted areas to avoid.
