Superintendent of Schools
Dos Palos Oro Loma JUSD Community,
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year and our website. District staff continues to make improvements to our website with the intention of increasing transparency and efficiency for all stakeholders.
A top priority in our district will always be the academic growth of all students. Although the district will open the 2020-21 school year through distance learning, school staff have been working diligently through the summer to prepare our schools for in-person and distance learning so every student can achieve individual success in a first-class educational program. Every student will receive a laptop and Internet access in order to interact with their teachers and classmates while learning from home. The state adopted curriculum and informational materials will be provided as well.
Another top priority in our district is to create a distance learning program that still meets the social-emotional needs of our students. Counselors and Psychologists, along with other social-emotional support staff will be readily available to meet with students virtually. We understand the pandemic has been difficult for our community, especially our young people who need peer interaction to strengthen their self-esteem, communication and listening skills. As a school community, we will be accessible during distance learning to meet the educational and social-emotional needs of all students.
Another top priority in our district is to provide safe and engaging facilities where students can develop confidence, respect others, and be responsible leaders that thrive. Not to mention, a school environment the community can take pride in. The district has several new projects that work towards meeting the communities expectations, such as, new HVAC units at Bryant Middle School gymnasium, artificial turf, and all-weather track at Dos Palos High School, concrete and shade structure in the quad area at Dos Palos High School, bleachers in the Dos Palos High School gymnasium, Adult Education portable at Dos Palos High School, parking lot and portable at Dos Palos State Preschool, and improved energy efficiency with the installation of more than 2,500 solar panels at Dos Palos Elementary, Bryant Middle School, and Dos Palos High School. Not to mention a fantastic Grounds department that keeps our facilities in top condition.
In closing, I would like to thank parents, students, staff, and community members for your dedication to the educational program at DPOLJUSD. Every stakeholder plays a critical role in the success of our district. I look forward to an outstanding 2020-21 school year!
Justin Miller, Ed.D.
